The role of the Café Learning Facilitator
The Café Learning Facilitator will be working within our social enterprise/s ensuring all expectations are met safely, efficiently, and effectively.
The Café Learning Facilitator reports to the Enterprise Coordinator and is responsible for supporting workplace learning for adults with learning disabilities and associated disorders by developing their knowledge and skills of work.
The Facilitator is at the very heart of the Café, responsible for its day-to-day running, and customer service as well as ensuring a safe and appropriate environment. Some experience of working within a busy catering kitchen or café would be beneficial.

The Café Learning Facilitator plays a vital role in enabling Learners to achieve the things that matter to them. This means supporting Learners to make informed choices and decisions that enhance their lifestyle in a meaningful and rewarding way.
KPIs
- Ensure Learners gain appropriate work preparation skills.
- Demonstrate a person-centred approach whilst supporting Learners within their role ensuring that physical, emotional and cultural well-being is actively promoted.
- Organise daily workload, ensuring each Learner is provided with specific meaningful tasks.
- Provide catering for events with the Learner being at the forefront.
- Providing a high level of customer service to encourage repeat customers.
- To carry out any other duties deemed appropriate to promote able2achieve Trust.
Ways in which you might show or measure this? Regularly read and review individual support plans; Record feedback from stakeholders; Evidence of team working; Record achievement of Learners' goals and aspirations; Produce high-quality baked goods for our cafés and external customers.
Effective communication
The Café Learning Facilitator has an active role in delivering effective learning and should demonstrate this through timely and effective recording and reporting. This involves contributing in a way that is fair and respectful, enabling the company to show that it is compliant with regulatory, contractual and internal requirements.
KPIs
- Actively liaise with stakeholders in a way that promotes and encourages open communication and feedback.
- Report and record Learners' progress and achievement.
- Encourage Learner involvement through the promotion of the Learners' voice.
- Record and report any concerns or issues to the Enterprise Coordinator, Registered Manager or Safeguarding Lead.
- Encouraging effective communication, initiating work plans and helping to foster a positive team spirit.
- To ensure equipment is kept in good working order and inform the Enterprise Coordinator of necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Attendance and contribution to supervisions.

The Café Learning Facilitator works well as part of the Trust team and effectively collaborates with all internal and external bodies. The Café Learning Facilitator puts the Learner at the forefront of everything they do, celebrates achievement and encourages empowerment through work-based learning.

Delivering results
The Café Learning Facilitator ensures that Learners develop their skills and are at the forefront of the Café.

- Facilitates high-quality work-based learning and strives for outstanding results for Learners and the Café.
- Supports individuals to prepare coffee and food in line with their abilities, choices, and support plans.
- Maintains 100% compliance with food hygiene, health & safety, and infection control standards.
- Supports the preparation of consistent, good-quality coffee and food.
- Ensure Learners' progress and achievements are recorded underpinning achievements.
- Ensure equality of treatment for all Learners by researching and using effectively differentiated resources and strategies.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality concerning individuals, able2achieve and other staff members including the use of social media.
- Keep up to date with statutory and legislative standards and guidance, identify good practices, and current thinking.
- Ensure that your practice meets able2achieve quality standards.
- Working within able2achieve policies and procedures professionally.
- To ensure takings are accurate, logged correctly and handled securely.
